So here's a review, that actually comments on the movie from a European, non-Bieber-fan, point of view.
I really enjoyed it, as I expected for exactly this kind of genre. If you don't like YA rom-coms, then just don't watch these kinds of movies. It's supposed to be over the top, dramatic, full of teeny crises, funny and easy. The movie is about the importance of honesty, learning how to be yourself and not how to be perfect (make mistakes) the importance of communication, being brave, even though you might get hurt, friendship, persistence even when it gets hard, making hard choices and in the end learning how to deal with confrontation and not being able to make everybody (nor anybody) happy. Anybody who thinks the message of the movie is to adjust to other people's opinions, clearly didn't understand what Elles admission essay is about. She is very honest about still finding out what she wants in life, but also states that she wants to grow into a person, who has all the character traits, that she loves about her loved ones. Not meaning that she wants to be somebody they love, but rather she wants to be the things, she loves most about them (which clearly reflects her own taste - not that of others. I loved the chemistry between both Elle and Noah, as well as Elle and Marco (the eye contact. I liked that it wasn't typically US prude about sex or that it was a big topic. Of course Noah and Marco are both portrayed really unrealistically as the bad boy with the soft heart (that Elle magically managed to melt in the first movie) on the one hand and the multi talented sunny boy who always says the most perfect things at the right time on the other. As Elle is portrayed more authentic and realistic (as far as it can be for a rom-com) I would have liked it if the guys were a little more flawed and realistic in the interaction with Elle. Also I liked that she didn't play a tipical girly girl, nor the other extreme of a girl that only silently reads in the library. She does her own thing, gets dirty and messy while doing it, but overall showes that it's ok, if you're being yourself and if you make mistakes.
In the end she hasn't decided to which school she's going and Marco mentioned at graduation that 'she's worth it' so maybe she'll decide to go to Berkeley after all and grows apart from Noah. I liked that she decided not to give up so easily on her first love though! However, as much as I was conflicted between Marco and Noah in the beginning, I'm now definitely rooting for Marco (also Noah and Chloe might have more chemistry than they'd like to admit. Acting was ok and definitely more refined than the first movie (which I also enjoyed. Have fun watching.

In all honestly, I know a ton of people from stan twitter are gonna come after a lot of people for reviewing this and not like what I have to say, but this is an honest review section that doesn't apply to their online platform. Caution SLIGHT SPOILER: Yes, there is one very brief scene where a distasteful joke is made about Bieber's appearance from the time he was suffering from lyme disease (an onstage amateur comedian calls out his "trucker look. It's a cheap shot at comedy, but not as offensive as they are making it out to be, plus it doesn't draw out and is said in a light fashion, but the scene itself is said in a stand-up comedy bar, which are KNOWN for being offensive and pushing boundaries. They are not meant to appease you or make you comfortable, its meant to be controversial and they target every person regardless of their circumstance, it's not an isolated occasion for Bieber. It's been done for literal years and it's stupid that people are flipping out over it even to the point of harassing people who weren't involved, yes seriously, people are that obsessed. It's amazing that in a film like this that carries misogynistic messages for its young viewers that people would be the most upset over this trivial thing. Mind you this was part of a montage scene so it only appears for less than TWO SECONDS and is a throwaway line so I have no idea why people are so pressed. Just because it's making fun of bieber do people (especially fangirls) feel the need to be angry about it, and no even if he was a woman (like one "review" stated, there would not be outrage like this) remember Britney and Lindsey in 2007? No one sticking up for them when they clearly had drug and mental health problems, these people are just hypocrites who like to complain because they are obsessed with a celebrity who doesn't know they exist. Just keep this in mind before you choose to watch or not because it is ridiculous to boycott a film like this just because you get "offended" over a joke that doesn't add or impact the storyline. Wish people would think for themselves and not just listen to everything twitter tells them.
Anyway, the film itself is definitely an improvement from the last one, the storyline is more compelling and the acting was definitely better, but somehow is slightly more cringey in many aspects and I think the Kissing booth theme is kind of irrelevant for this plot and left messy at the end.

Meanwhile, the bad guy says everyone should be the same so there's no more fighting! The entire movie revolves around people and music with no other real plot. You walk out feeling the sick ate-too-much buffet feeling without the satisfaction of orange chicken.
